July 1, NTT DoCoMo Japan released a heat stroke prevention app “heat stroke prevention in your city” within a limited period from 1st July to November 30. This service is provided as part of the project of heat stroke prevention together with the Ministry of the Environment and the private sector. The App is free and can be used in docomo smartphone equipped with Android OS 2.3 or higher version.

This heat stroke prevention app utilizes temperature and humidity information information from the DoCoMo environment sensor networks to display five levels of heat stroke risk. The apps can provide heat stroke risk information up to three different location.

On the display screen, the character of ambassador “Pikon” appeared over heat stroke prevention voice. The app is able to notify heat stroke risk in realtime. By mid-July, through the application and mail, DoCoMo plans to add a “voice over” features allowing users to convey heat stroke risk to their family and friends.
